Building a Stronger Powell River - Together
These three words describe how I believe local government should work:
Listen: Leadership starts with listening.
I want to hear from people across Powell River including all residents, families, seniors, young people, businesses, community organizations and people with different experiences and perspectives.
What is working?
What isn't?
And what should our priorities be for the next four years?
Being accessible and listening before making decisions will be central to how I serve.
Learn: Good decisions begin with understanding.
Council deals with complex issues. I believe in asking good questions, understanding the evidence, seeking different perspectives and building strong relationships.
That includes working constructively with City staff, residents, businesses, community organizations, Tla'amin Nation, the qathet Regional District, and other levels of government.
Good leaders don't need to have every answer.
We need to be willing to learn.
Lead: Listening and learning must lead to action.
Leadership means making thoughtful decisions, being accountable for them and following through.
It also means advocating strongly for Powell River when decisions being made by other levels of government or organization affect our community.
My commitment is simple:
Listen to our community.
Learn from people and evidence.
Lead with purpose.
